As I have been promoting our amazing Beatles Tribute Cruise I have been asked a lot of questions about what is it like to be on a cruise, what’s included and what else do I have to pay for once on board.
So I thought I would answer a whole bunch of these questions at once. Plus give you a few tips to make your cruise a little more enjoyable. If there is an extra fee for something I will let you know!
All of your food for six days and nights in included in your passage… ALL of it and that includes free room service. We eat in one of two beautifully appointed dining rooms on the ship and receive white glove service and all you can eat gourmet food at every meal. If you decide to try something new and you don’t like it, you can just order something else…no questions asked. If you wanted 4 Shrimp cocktails for dinner…you just order it…if you want another steak or lobster, just ask for it, another desert, just ask for it!
Here’s is one of my personal tips, if you are in a balcony cabin (highly recommended) order room service (free and available 24 hours a day) and eat breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. It’s something you will never forget.
Now for something to do during the day …besides our Beatles events that is. There are 2 swimming pools and 4 hot tubs on the pool deck PLUS a separate indoor/outdoor pool/ lounge with a retractable roof just for the adults called the Solarium. There is the incredible Flow Rider (a surfing hill with moving water…your kids will love it), a Rock Climbing Wall, Ice Skating Rink, Full Court Basketball court that can also be used for volleyball, a nine-hole Miniature Golf course and don’t forget the day spa and the very well equipped fitness center where you can get in a great work-out and they even have a full sized boxing ring. You can try numerous different types of massages (they even offer a couple massages…very romantic…extra fee), facials and skin treatments as well as having your hair and nails (extra fee) done for the evening. Hint: book your massages early if you want to have one on our two days at sea!
The ship makes three stops at Belize City, Cozumel and Costa Maya, where you can get off the ship and experience the culture and sights of these locations. Here is a little history about Belize City & Cozumel followed by a few of the excursions (yes, they cost extra) available.
Tour the amazing Altan Ha pyramid and discover the prevalence of Mayan influence in this culture. This ancient temple was erected as a symbol of Mayan honor and devotion to the Sun God, one of the central figures in their religious beliefs.
- The Baboon Sanctuary and Belize Zoo are great places to witness some of Belize ‘s wildlife. You’ll see tapir, jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays, jaguarondis and more
- Explore Belize ‘s exciting underwater world and take in its unique coral structures, intricate caves and extensive marine life.
Now Cozumel, Mexico: The Conquistadors first saw Mexico from the shores of Cozumel while searching for gold. Today, visitors to the island continue to seek out gold and silver jewelry in the shops of San Miguel while having a great time in its many local bars and restaurants. Plus, the waters around Cozumel ‘s sheltered coral reefs make this one of the best snorkeling areas in the world.
- Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Tulúm , majestically perched above the turquoise Caribbean . The site was occupied as far back as 600 A.D. However, it was most densely populated around 1200 A.D. You will be struck by the pyramid-shaped El Castillo, which dominates the city from atop a forty-foot cliff. The nearby Temple of the Descending God provides equally excellent insight into the architecture of the Mayan people, who gained considerable achievements in the arts and sciences, only to decline and vanish for no apparent reason.
- Regarded as the ” St. Thomas of the Western Caribbean ,” Cozumel has become one of the world’s best duty-free shopping ports. Cozumel offers unbelievable prices on diamonds, colored gemstones, jewelry, watches, gold, sterling silver, and even Oriental rugs as well as Mexican house wares and handicrafts. You can find designer jewelry pieces and watches from C2K, Caribbean Hook, Honora, House of Tanzanite, John Hardy, Kabana, La Nouvelle Bague, Starnight, White Diamonds, Cartier, Concord , Maurice Lacroix, Michele, Movado and more
Personally I love to stay on board the ship while everyone else gets off and take advantage of all the ship has to offer, sleep late, stretch out and enjoy the sun, read a good book, get a massage and a workout in, hit the steam room or the sauna, have quiet drink with my lady in a secluded corner one of the great lounges on the ship or the balcony of my cabin. When everyone else is off the ship, it is yours to enjoy alone!
At night this ship really rocks, when you are not dancing to our three BritBeat performances, there are three different discos and nine clubs and bars (all too numerous to mention…extra fee for alcoholic beverages) ) and of course the casino. You’ll find me at the BlackJack table where I have been known to pay for a whole cruise on a lucky night. Some of my best cruise memories took place in the Casino. Care to play at a table with old friends May Pang, Chris O’Dell and Nancy Andrews (these ladies will keep you laughing your ass off)…I know I do…btw our special Beatles guests will be out and about the whole cruise they will not be hiding in their cabins, unless they need some rest after our special Costume/Dance Party with BritBeat with a set list that is all High-Octane Beatles Dance numbers. You’ll be able to spend time with them at the pool, the spa, the casino, the lounges, our meals and all of our Beatles events. This is where our cruise is different from any other kind of Beatles event you have ever been to. Our 300- 400 Beatles Tribute Cruisers will walk off that ship six days later as friends (not just someone who got an autograph or shook someone’s hand) of May Pang, Nancy Andrews, Chris O’Dell, Shannon, Paul Saltzman and Jorie Gracen. You do not get that feeling when you leave the Fest for Beatles Fans. Sorry Mark Lapidos, but that is the truth. Here’s something else you won’t get at the Fest, the ship’s photographer’s will be around to take pictures of you with our Special Beatles Guests which you can purchase and get signed by our guests at our autograph session! Our guests will also have their books, pictures and paintings available for purchase and autographs
Now what about the kids? The cruise line has that all figured out. There is a cruise camp for all ages of children (as long as they are potty trained) and numerous special areas for them as well like: The Living Room and Fuel for Teenagers and Adventure Ocean and the H2O Zone for little ones. Imagine this: your kids will be having more fun than you will on the Independence of the Seas. And yes…of course they are late night programs and babysitters for the kids so you can dance your ass off with BriBeat, and our Special Beatles guests
There is a library if you want to borrow books, an internet café (extra fee) and a business center, a cigar bar, a movie theater, and a mall called the Royal Promenade. This ship has everything…and more!
When we aren’t filling your time with our Beatles events you’ll have time to explore this incredible ship and enjoy all of that is has to offer. And as you can see, it has plenty to offer. For more detailed info and to explore this ship on line follow this link to the Independence of the Seas.
If you need more information on our Special Beatles Insiders, Private Beatles Events, cabin prices (remember our special discounts end on 10/31/09) or the cruise itself, just go to our website @
As you can see this is going to be one amazing vacation for all who join. I hope you are one of the lucky Beatles Tribute Cruisers who walks away with a real friendship with one or more of our Beatles Insiders and the vacation of a lifetime!
